Shirley Horrocks’ doco sheds new light on the life and art of Tom Kreisler, a 20th-century New Zealand painter with scant interest in landscape but a strong affinity with Mexican traditions and the wit and verve of Pop Art.

'The Language of Love’ is one of the two movie projects starring the boy band group, Supernova as the leads. In-Ha (Jin Se-Yun) used to be a popular singer. She is now blind and has closed her to mind to the world. Tae-Oh (Sung-Mo) is mute. He works tuning pianos. In-Ha takes a walk every morning. Tae-Oh (Sung-Mo) plays a piano for her when when she passes by.

All the magic of the theatre is revealed to viewers as they follow the challenges involved in the various stages of putting on a play – from selection and reading to rehearsals and, finally, opening night before the audience.

The first part puts two families of puppets at odds over a job promotion; the second features Meryl Streep in romantic duets with a dummy (who is voiced by Adam Guettel); the third shows the legged objects, embodied by the Alvin Ailey 2 company, taking the stage to audition for their roles. With no movie technique (but a great cameraman, Ed Lachman), Simmons has assembled her interests as if in a toy chest: old movies and TV commercials, Broadway songs, good-to-feel-bad bathos, and the effluvia of domestic life. Whether intentionally or not, Simmons has made a film about the inevitable post-Warhol art-world nexus of irony, finance, and glamour, a luxury object of empty intentions that the viewer fills with his own need for art, just as the second act’s real-world woman endows a dummy with her romantic hopes and dreams.

Angela is on a quest to save her long lost sister. To accomplish her goal she needs to locate the pieces of a time-altering mystical weapon known as the Music of the Spheres in a world dictated by the teachings of the ancient philosopher Pythagoras. Time is running out too.
